A work from anywhere solution
For Fulton Hogan
Contracting firm Fulton Hogan has hundreds of jobs on the go across Australasia. Their engineers, technicians, project managers and subcontractors work on roads, buildings, airports, bridges, and waste-water treatment plants – critical infrastructure that keeps cities and countries moving.
As such many of its 5500 employees are working in the field, across many locations and sometimes hundreds of kilometres from the office. Whilst their workforce is mobile, they’re often dislocated from core systems. And there’s a heap of information they must capture onsite to report job progress and health and safety. These people are good at processing information and sticklers for getting things right.
One of many examples involves the work of site supervisors, who at the day’s end create job reports that record people, plant, visitors, incidents, weather, and progress. Fulton Hogan generates thousands of job reports every week. Time is wasted when they have to lug paperwork back to the office and key it into corporate systems. That’s an awful lot of paper shuffling.
Today, site supervisors capture their end of day data with an iPad app developed by Davanti called the Daily Job Report (DJR) – Fulton Hogan’s first native iOS app.
On the spot, supervisors tap in timesheets, materials, and plant items – bobcats, trucks and the like – which are drawn from payroll and asset management systems. There’s no need to deliver job sheets to the office, because the app syncs with head office systems.
Davanti used pre-existing requirements and engaged with key stakeholders to tailor the Salesforce and mobile experience to managers and field users respectively. Davanti prototyped and developed the iOS application with a focus on useability. Davanti also created a Salesforce application to asynchronously update records held in Salesforce, the mobile application and other Fulton Hogan internal systems.
Fulton Hogan now has a flexible and mobile record keeping system to support its workforce. Foremen can capture data in realtime and department managers have a one-stop-shop for easily and effectively managing all of their assigned projects. Fulton Hogan can stay on top of issues and remain confident in the accuracy of the information entered. All that and a reduction in 24,000 paper forms per annum.
